How to book a private investigation?

We have a calendar at the bottom of this page that shows which dates are available to book. We book any night of the week. Pricing for week nights vs. weekends are different. Prices are listed below.

Email us at jailinvesetigations@gmail.com to confirm the date. If the date is available we will send you a confirmation, at this point a deposit is due within 7 days of said email.

Pricing Information

Sunday-Thursday Pricing

4 Hour Investigation

It is $140 for a group of 4 people, $35 for each additional person.
The deposit is $75.
Hours of investigation 8pm to midnight.

8 Hour Investigation

It is $210 for a group of 6 people, $35 for each additional person.
The deposit is $155.
Hours of investigation are 8pm to 4am.

12 Hour Investigation

It is $280 for a group of 6 people, $50 for each additional person.
The deposit is $200.
Hours of investigation are 8pm to 8am.

Friday & Saturday Pricing

4 Hour Investigation

It is $200 for a group of 4 people, $35 for each additional person.
The deposit is $125.
Hours of investigation 8pm to midnight.

8 Hour Investigation

It is $250 for a group of 6 people, $35 for each additional person.
The deposit is $185.
Hours of investigation are 8pm to 4am.

12 Hour Investigation

It is $325 for a group of 6, $50 for each additional person.
The deposit is $245.
Hours of investigation is 8pm to 8am.

Deposit Information

A deposit is required for all investigations. A deposit is required within 7 days of the booking confirmation email. The deposit holds your investigation night, and is taken from the total price of an investigation.

There are four deposit options. You can either use the online deposit button, make an appointment to pay by phone, pay in person during museum hours, or you can mail a check to HSPC PO Box 2 Council Bluffs, IA 51502. If you mail a check please note the date of your investigation.

Do not make a deposit without a confirmation email.

Deposits are non-refundable

General Booking Information

Rules & Information

Smoking is NOT permitted inside the building. NO Drugs or Alcohol. Anyone found using drugs or alcohol will be immediately escorted from the premises and may face legal action. NO Séances or Ouija boards. Use of Ouija boards or conducting a séance, or trying to contact demonic energies will result in the immediate expulsion from the premises. Absolutely NO "cleansings" on the property – inside or out. Removal, damage or desecration of any Squirrel Cage Jail property will result in immediate expulsion from the premises and possible legal action.

A representative of the Historical Society of Pottawattamie County will be on site at all times.
No exceptions

What can't I bring?

No Ouija boards, no drugs, no alcohol. NO Cleansings, séances, satanic rituals, etc. A representative from the Historical Society of Pottawattamie County can remove you from the grounds if any of these rules are broken.

What areas of the building will we have acccess to?

You will have access to all but three archival areas. This can change due to the disgression of the HSPC Representative.

Is there heat?

Mostly! There is heat on the first and fourth floor. For winter investigations we do recommend wearing layers.

Is there air conditioning?

Again, mostly! The first and fourth floor are air conditioned. If you are investigating during August please bring extra water and wear light clothing.
